Therapy for Trauma/ EMDR in Warrenton, Virginia

A Path 2 Healing

Move past your past.

I delve into an integrative approach that empowers individuals to navigate the complexities of traumatic experiences. My goal is to provide you with the tools and knowledge to understand how trauma affects the brain, influencing both emotions and perceptions of reality.

By distinguishing between factual events and the feelings they evoke, clients can begin to process their experiences in a healthy and constructive manner.

Understanding the Brain's Response to Trauma

It’s like you can never be happy in your own skin

Trauma can alter the brain's normal functioning, especially in areas responsible for emotion regulation, memory, and sense of safety. We explore the science behind the brain's response to trauma, helping you understand why your reactions are normal and expected under such circumstances.

This knowledge is pivotal in normalizing your experience and fostering a compassionate self-perspective.

What treatment is like with A Path 2 Healing therapy

“I received outstanding support from Ms. Vara during a difficult period in my life. She is very compassionate and direct in her approach, which I appreciate immensely. Our sessions never felt impersonal or clinical - I felt like she truly cared about my well being, and she worked to create a treatment plan that far exceeded my expectations. After a few sessions, Ms. Vara introduced me to EMDR therapy.

This was such an effective treatment method that created positive change in just a matter of 4 sessions. I was skeptical of EMDR initially, but she provided context and structure -- after just a few sessions, my anxiety reduced significantly and I felt so much more at peace.

My mindset has shifted and I feel so much happier and healthier thanks to Ms. Vara's support. She is an amazing Therapist and I am so grateful for the support she has provided me.”

FAQs

  • Sessions start with learning stabilization skills. Next, a client treatment plan is created with client collaboration on specific experiences to be processed. Bilateral stimulation is used to process emotions, thoughts, and behavior connected to negative beliefs. This is a structured process and can be done online or in-person.

  • Some clients have initially been skeptical of EMDR, but try it. I hear positive feedback and see positive results. Most people like the structure and as an alternative to talk therapy. Although there are no guarantees, this is another therapy to process trauma, limiting the amount of talking in session.

  • The timeframe depends upon the individual. Some clients process faster than others. On average, the timeframe is days to months.
